MICROSOFT WINDOWS SERVER 2008 & WINDOWS 7 TO BE END OF LIFE ON JANUARY 14TH, 2020!!
If you are like me you are thinking well 2020 is such a LONG way away and we have plenty of time!! While it sounds like a long way away it is only 1 ½ years away. Windows 7 & Server 2008 were very popular operating system and the use of these is still quite high. Instead of waiting to the last minute to replace some of these system, now is a good time to start phasing in some new Windows 10 & Server 2016 machines. You also may be asking why would I need to replace my Windows 7 & Sever 2008 machines prior to Microsoft’s End of Life date? While Windows 7 & Server 2008 will still technically function as of that January 2020 date, they won’t be safe. Any new vulnerability found in either operating system after January 2020 will make anyone using these systems low-hanging fruit for hackers, as there will no longer be a fix available. If you include these changes in your technology plan now, you’ll be giving yourself the proper lead-time to implement the technology, determine a strategy for addressing incompatibility issues, train your staff, avoid potential service disruptions, and adjust for Murphy’s Law.
